Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Pittsburgh Festival Opera Gala
The Pittsburgh Festival Opera, founded in 1978 by renowned mezzo-soprano and music educator Mildred Miller Posvar, held its annual gala at the Children’s Museum on the North Side to celebrate its 42nd season, as well as its new executive director, Christopher M. Powell, who started the position in March 2019. Roseanne Wholey chaired the wonderful event!
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Family House Black and White Gala
Helen Cestra has held Family House close to her heart for many years. “I actually worked with the organization in high school as part of my Medallion Ball volunteer hours and their mission just stuck with me,” she said. That mission is to provide affordable housing to families from all over who come to Pittsburgh seeking medical treatment. Hotels can be expensive for many, especially when the stay is extended. Family House works to fill that gap to remove that added financial pressure during an already stressful time.
